Canon Johnson Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School

(Part of the Forward As One CE Multi Academy Trust)

Welcome from the Headteacher - Miss Pollard:

Our school is a one-form entry Church of England Academy (Part of the Forward As One Trust) on the outskirts of Ashton-Under-Lyne. We are an associate church of the Christ Church community, part of the Manchester Diocese.  Our everyday life is based on Christian values making us a welcoming, caring and considerate community for all children and their families. We pride ourselves on the positive comments made by visitors on how welcome we make them feel.

We encourage the celebration of achievements, big and small, to motivate and inspire young minds.

At our school we believe that education is a partnership between school, parents and the community. We work hard to make sure that this partnership is a close one, for the benefit of all our children.

Our overall aim is encapsulated in our school vision statement of:

Our school family aims to immerse every child in a diverse, thought provoking, memorable curriculum, which places all children at the heart of discovering their true potential, allowing them to become aspirational, valued contributors within an ever-changing society and global community. Achievement of our vision is underpinned by our Christian values of love, hope & aspiration, respect, trust and friendship, along with the British values of liberty, freedom, community, tolerance, respect and the rule of law.

Rooted in God’s love, our vision is lived out in every aspect of school life, from our curriculum to our dealings with children, parents, staff and the wider community, as well as in our interactions across the Forward as One Multi-Academy Trust of which we are a proud part.

Our chosen Scripture in which our vision and values are rooted comes from John 13:34, “Love one another as I have loved you”.

And our school values are:

LOVE

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”

John 15:12.

RESPECT

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you,

for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 7:12.

FRIENDSHIP

“A friend is always loyal, and a brother is both to help in time of need.” Proverbs 17.17

TRUST

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3: 5-6.

HOPE AND ASPIRATION

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11.

We look forward to welcoming you and your child to our family.
